The Max EWMAMS control chart for joint monitoring of process mean and variance with individual observations
نویسندگان
چکیده
A traditional approach to monitor both the location and the scale parameters of a quality characteristic is to use two separate control charts. These schemes have some difficulties in concurrent tracking and interpretation. To overcome these difficulties, some researchers have proposed schemes consisting only one chart. However, none of these schemes is designed to work with individual observations. In this research, an exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA)-based control chart that plots only one statistic at a time is proposed to simultaneously monitor the mean and variability with individual observations. The performance of the proposed scheme is compared with the ones of the two other existing combination charts by simulation. The results show that in general the proposed chart has a significantly better performance than the other combination charts.

A Self-starting Control Chart for Simultaneous Monitoring of Mean and Variance of Simple Linear Profiles
In many processes in real practice at the start-up stages the process parameters are not known a priori and there are no initial samples or data for executing Phase I monitoring and estimating the process parameters. In addition, the practitioners are interested in using one control chart instead of two or more for monitoring location and variability of processes. In this paper, we consider a s...
متن کاملA Review and Evaluation of Statistical Process Control Methods in Monitoring Process Mean and Variance Simultaneously
In this paper, first the available single charting methods, which have been proposed to detect simultaneous shifts in a single process mean and variance, are reviewed. Then, by designing proper simulation studies these methods are evaluated in terms of in-control and out-ofcontrol average run length criteria (ARL). The results of these simulation experiments show that the EWMA and EWMS methods ...
متن کاملSimultaneous Monitoring of Multivariate Process Mean and Variability in the Presence of Measurement Error with Linearly Increasing Variance under Additive Covariate Model (RESEARCH NOTE)
In recent years, some researches have been done on simultaneous monitoring of multivariate process mean vector and covariance matrix. However, the effect of measurement error, which exists in many practical applications, on the performance of these control charts is not well studied. In this paper, the effect of measurement error with linearly increasing variance on the performance of ELR contr...

In many industrial processes, quality of a process can be characterized as a nonlinear relation between a response variable and explanatory variables. In several articles, use of nonlinear regression is suggested for monitoring nonlinear profiles. Such regression has two disadvantages. First the distribution of the regression coefficients cannot be specified for small samples and second with in...
متن کاملA two-sided Bernoulli-based CUSUM control chart with autocorrelated observations
Usually, in monitoring a proportion p < /em>, the binary observations are considered independent; however, in many real cases, there is a continuous stream of autocorrelated binary observations in which a two-state Markov chain model is applied with first-order dependence. On the other hand, the Bernoulli CUSUM control chart which is not robust to autocorrelation can be applied two-sided co...
